An 26,000 year period companion?

We all know that our Earth's rotational axis seemingly precess roughlyonce every 26,000 years or so. Our present theory said that this iscaused by the gravity of Sun, Moon and the oblation of the Earth. Thisis called the Lunisolar Theory.

Lately I read a book called "Lost Star of Myth and TIme", the authorCruttender agrues that IF our Sun is in a binary system and have a27,000 year period, then EVEN if the Earth axis didn't precess, thewhole solar system would still rotate by 50" or so per year inreference to the inertia space. The reference frame is very important.

We used to believe that ourEarth is stationary and thus the center of the universe, and thus wehave to invent those "epic" (?) circle to explain the funny emotion ofthe planets. Now as we consider precession is an observational fact, but is it caused by the actual precession of Earth's axis? Or by thefact that our Sun is travelling through a curve in space?

I found this theory very interesting. Would anyone care to comment onwhich theory is true?
